A: As a general guide, after your seeds germinate they can grow in smaller (1.5" cell trays) for about 2-3 weeks, in larger 2" trays they can grow in them for about 3-4 weeks before needing to be transplanted.

Q: When to remove lid from seedling tray?

A: The greenhouse cover holds in moisture, raising the humidity for fast germination. As soon as you see the first tiny sprout, remove the cover.

Q: How often should I water my seedling tray?

A: Seedlings need to be watered at least once a day to keep the soil evenly moist, but not soggy. More frequent watering is required if the soil dries out faster because of strong light exposure or warm temperatures. Watering frequency will also have to be increased as the seedlings grow.

Q: When to open vent on seedling tray?

A: A day after seedlings appear through the potting mix, open the humidity dome (if you are using one) air vents to slowly lower the humidity. This will allow the seedlings to slowly adapt to a more neutral climate.

Q: How often should I fertilize seedlings in trays?

A: All the nutrients that are needed to sustain these cotyledons are contained right inside the seed. But once the second set of "true" leaves appear, you should begin feeding your seedlings with a dilute fertilizer solution. Mix the fertilizer at half the recommended rate and apply it twice a week.
